Stay on Corporate siteKalmar has signed a contract with Gateway Terminals India Pvt Ltd. (GTI) for the supply of 29 rubber-tired gantry cranes (RTGs) that are intended for operation at a new terminal now under construction at the Port of Nhava Sheva.
GTI is joint venture between Maersk A/S and Container Corporation of India Ltd., and is due to start operations in August 2006.
The RTGs to be delivered are Kalmar’s new 2005 E-One model, which have been well received on the market. The E-One RTGs are fully electric and operate without hydraulics. They also contain fewer critical mechanical components and therefore provide less opportunity for mechanical failure.
The RTGs will be fitted with Kalmar’s Smartrail® automatic steering and container position verification system, and delivery will occur during 2006. Both parties have agreed not to publish the value of the transaction.
