Stay on Corporate siteKalmar Industries, a business area of the KONE Materials Handling division of KONE Corporation, and TP Group have entered into a contract which transfers to TP Group all of Kalmar’s Tampere factory's welding operations, including flamecutting, pre-handling of steel plates and the machining of heavy steel structures. The transfer affects nearly 150 employees, who will continue in their current positions under TP Group’s ownership, as well as more than 30 temporary or outside employees, who will also be retained under their present contract conditions.
The transfer package also includes an agreement under which TP Group will supply welded structures to Kalmar as a preferred subcontractor. Welding operations will continue to be housed in the existing premises that TP Group rents from Kalmar. The transfer will take place at the beginning of March, 2003.
In line with its corporate strategy, Kalmar is concentrating on marketing, sales, product development, assembly, and services. In all other activities it will rely on partners and subcontractors.
