Stay on Corporate siteKONE has received an order from Crosbie Property for the prestigious Point Village project in Dublin, Ireland.
The order covers the supply and installation of 26 elevators and 18 escalators, including the first double-deck elevator to be installed in Ireland. The new commercial development will be located in the North Wall Quay in Dublin's Docklands and become a world-class center for business and culture.
“We are excited to be part of this project, which will play a very important part in the rejuvenation of the dockland area of Dublin. It is a tribute to the vision of Crosbie Property, with whom KONE has cooperated in other successful projects before,” says Noud Veeger, KONE EVP and Area Director for Central and North Europe.
The Point Village, designed by Scott Tallon Walker, will include a shopping centre, office premises, a hotel and a cinema. The landmark of the development will be "The Watchtower”, which will transform Dublin’s skyline. When completed, the 120-meter Watchtower will be the highest building in Ireland.
One of the installed elevators will be a double-deck elevator, which enables more efficient use of the building’s core space. This elevator solution consists of two elevator cars on top of each other in the same hoist-way. The installation of the equipment will start in November 2008 and is estimated to be completed in mid 2010.
