Stay on Corporate siteKONE has won an order to supply all the elevators for a new office building in the Canary Wharf financial district.
The order includes 14 elevators for the 12-storey BP2 building, situated to the east of the One Churchill Place building. The installation of the equipment will start in the last quarter of 2007 and continue through 2008.
"We are delighted that Canary Wharf has entrusted us with this order. We have a longstanding relationship with them and are happy to participate once again in the successful development of the area, where we have previously delivered equipment for several other landmark projects", says Noud Veeger, KONE Area Director for Central and North Europe. "It's great to see that the city of London continously attracts new challenging construction projects. Combining latest technology with world-class architecture makes every building development a unique project."
KONE started working with Canary Wharf Construction Ltd in the late 90s and has since then supplied equipment for the Citibank European head quarters designed by Norman Foster, the Citigroup Tower, the Clifford Chance head office and the BP3 building, which are all located in the Canary Wharf business area.
Canary Wharf is a large business development in London located on the Isle of Dogs, which used to be an active dockland. The development of Canary Wharf has continued for almost two decades and it has become one of the centers for London's financial services industry housing a number of banks and other financial institutions.
