By modernizing an elevator, you can achieve energy savings of up to 70%. Our modernization solutions range from retrofitting LED lights to a completely new elevator with energy-regeneration technology.

Our current machine-room-less volume elevator, KONE MonoSpace® 500, is up to 90% more energy efficient than our elevators from the '90s.
External recognition for sustainability
Several of our solutions have received external recognition for their sustainability. We have received Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) certifications for several solutions and we are the first and the only elevator and escalator company to have all certifications with the highest possible "Leader" ratings. The SGBP-certified solutions are recommended for Green Mark-certified buildings in the Asia-Pacific region.
KONE has also received an "Accepted" rating in the Byggvarubedömningen (BVB) assessment system for several solutions in Sweden. BVB is a Swedish nonprofit organization that evaluates solutions for buildings and drives the use of sustainable building materials.

KONE was the first company to achieve the best A-class energy efficiency classification for elevator installations according to ISO 25745. Currently, 23 of our elevator models have received the best A-class classification, and 8 escalators and autowalks with the best A+++ rating in the escalator and autowalk category.
In order to illustrate the environmental impact during the entire lifetime of our solutions, we publish Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). In addition, we publish Health Product Declarations (HPD) to communicate about the material content and the associated health effects of our products, responding to a growing need for healthier living environments.
